Unit 3:
The Iditarod

The Iditarod travels 1,100 miles each year from Anchorage to Nome. Commemorating the race to save Nome from Diphtheria in 1925, the modern Iditarod race attracts mushers with different backgrounds and goals from all around the world.

This unit explores several aspects of the event, from what the trail looks like in the summer months to why people choose to make the journey each year.
